[There appears to be a Yosuke sprawled out on one of the comfier couches in the Mall rest areas today. He's utterly out for the count, mouth slightly open as he sleeps, uniform jacket splayed to each side as some strange variation of techno-rock pumps through his headphones.

If you get real close, you can see the kunai tucked away inside his jacket, but otherwise, he really does seem like an ordinary Yosuke. That means he needs a very rude wake-up call.]

There's a Minato about--something's odd about this one, though, definitely. First of all, he doesn't reek of Wildcard, but reeks of the Persona Thanatos. Secondly, to those who can sense it, one can feel there has been a lot of death around him that he's carrying with him. Thirdly, he's obviously equipped for some form of battle or another and has an Evoker (without words or any form of symbol on it) in a holster on his belt, and happens to have a small sword over his back for Shadow-slaying, but nothing on him indicates anything to do with SEES.

In fact, his clothing is also quite plain and normal, aside from the fact his coat's a bit old and black and his jeans have seen better days. His headphones, though, seem brand-new, and are silver and blue unlike the usual. Needless to say, this is a Minato who is all in all, probably not the standard fair.

"..." His expression is unreadable, so it's hard to say if he's surprised, upset, confused, or used to this kind of thing. He also doesn't say anything as he surveys the Mall around him, either, but appears to be glancing about for someone. Teammates, or friends, perhaps?

[OOC; Streganato. This one's pretty unique where both Rednato and Bluenato exist in his world (they're actually siblings; Red leads SEES, he leads Strega) and that SEES is actually the bad party and just... don't know it. Details in his journal, for those who like... are willing to READ through it. d-don't eat me ;w;]

*Though Metatron had done a few things during his one-or-two-hour "vacations" in human form, he'd never done a single thing long enough to call it a hobby. So now he's wandering around, looking for things that catch his interest.

It might be a good idea to note, if you've seen him before, that he is a little shinier than when he first came to the Mall.

Awakening--Akihiko's origins, PG-13 horror/suspense, 1,300 words

Middle school Akihiko first awakens to the horrors of the Dark Hour and fears he's having a psychotic episode. Unaware he is a persona user, he struggles to cope with the madness.

Awakening

Akihiko’s health was shot. Ever since the world went to hell every midnight, he barely slept. His athletic build shriveled from slender to skinny and dark circles formed around his eyes like a boy caving in to a chemical habit. His old life as an ordinary middle school felt like a distant memory, his days now spent in dread of the howling madness each night would bring. Every midnight, during the hour that should have spanned from 12:00 to 1:00 a.m., sanity ceased and the chaos began.

[Have a Jin, wandering hurriedly through the mall. In his arms he has a bundle of... stuff, which he's quickly carrying back to his not-so-secret base/abandoned storefront/house. He'd have stuffed it all in his briefcase, but alas, it's not quite big enough for all of it. He almost makes it without incident. Unfortunately, there are a few downward steps in his way that he notices just a little too late. He stumbles forward, and... It's all going flying. Including the briefcase.]

Ah-- Shit!

[He lands on his hands and knees. At least he managed to avoid a total faceplant. Man, he should have stolen gotten another bag or something while he was out. He's going to hurry to try and pick all that stuff up, before someone sees. Some of the things scattered about are fairly innocuous, while others look a little more... volatile. Huh.]

(not totally related, but I really notice P4's influence on the additions to character portraits like Junpei and Yukari along with new characters like Saori and Rio, but keeping it close to P3's style. IMO, they did a nice job)

It's a lovely day here in the Velvet mall. The lights are shining, the demons are chirping, the Naoyas are hungov--

Well. This Naoya is hungover. He's hiding it well, with his coffee and book and general seclusion from everything that makes sudden movements. But it won't last here. It never does. His laptop is to one side...and he's annoyed because he knows he can't be the only one who thought to record that mess.

But here he is. Bother him? Mingle? Collapse with your own hangover? Blackmail him?]

So, like, Minato had no idea why she suddenly found herself under her room mate's bed this morning, or why she had this massive headache, but damn is she in a good mood! Why, you may ask? It's actually quite simple. Her best friend that actually knows that she's her best friend is here, and the pictures from her recent paranormal investigation were developped, ready to be put in albums! What more could she ask for?

Though right now, after a good long day of venting her frustrations on a horde of unfortunate Shadows, Minato has decided to spend her earned money on a Phunstation Portable, a few horror games and some visual novels, quite a bit of them being dating sims. She'll be sitting on a bench and be absorbed in playing said games now. WITH INTENSE FURY.

... "Magical Doki Doki High: Super Kawaii Love Love Otome Edition" was a pretty good buy. Very challenging, and the girls are quite satisfyingly moe.

Izumi stands behind it, looking...admittedly nervous. The Bible on the podium is new, after all, not her trusty one filled with notes. However, unlike any normal sermon, this is less a lecture and more a Q&A session, as the sign said. So, feel free to come up and ask away, or just sit down and choose to listen to her the old-fashioned way. ...Or just bother her.*

EDIT@08:16 UTC/GMT. Wow. That was ugly. I expected it to go for 30 minutes and have maybe 1 minute of broken connectivity. Instead it lasted over 4 hours and we had 10 minutes of downtime directly related to the load balancer upgrades and then another 5-10 minutes of downtime when our primary Pingback database server crashed and the secondary couldn't take over; which could have been indirectly caused by the network upgrade missing a self-VIP.

Anyways, we're up, we're working, the load balancers are barely breaking a sweat right now and I need some food and a shot of whiskey. I don't even *like* whiskey!!

On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.
